Merline Sahsonya Melvin, L.Ac, Dipl. Ac, MSOM, has over 16 years of experience in the field of natural holistic medicine. She completed her Masters in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine at the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (MITCM). She is a licensed acupuncturist in Washington, DC and is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She treats a wide variety of health conditions with a specialization in chronic pain and women’s health. Merline has also studied with the son of Dr. Nogier, the father of auricular (ear) medicine in France. Auricular acupuncture is the stimulation of acupuncture points on the external ear surface for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in several areas of the body.
With her years of study and practice of Eastern medicine, she brings an integrated approach to healing, and wellness that includes nutrition, lab testing analysis, acupuncture, laser therapy, charkra balancing, essential oils and herbology.
Merline enjoys practicing Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Pilates and Yoga, and traveling both nationally and internationally. She is originally from Washington, DC and enjoys trying new natural and organic products to blog about related to food and antiaging health and beauty aids.

- L.Ac — Licensed Acupuncturist: This license indicates that one is approved to practice acupuncture by the D.C. Acupuncture Licensing Board. To receive a license in Washington, DC, one must have: a) graduated from an accredited, three year postgraduate acupuncture college, b) passed a clean needle technique course.
- Dipl.Ac — Diplomate of Acupuncture: This designation indicates that one has passed the national exam for Acupuncture.
- MSOM — Master of Science in Oriental Medicine: This degree signifies that one has successfully completed a three- to four-year program in Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture, Chinese herbology and related subjects.
